Local libraries forced to close, offering curbside pickup again

Local libraries are again closed — curbside pickup remains available — following an Alberta government announcement late Tuesday afternoon.

Connie Clement, manager of the Vulcan Municipal Library, said the library’s hours will remain 10 a.m. to 5 p.m., Monday to Friday.

“We’re busy enough to maintain it,” said Clement on Wednesday about the library’s hours.

In addition to offering curbside delivery, with patrons able to pick up items in the foyer during library hours, staff will also continue to deliver items if patrons request it.

The library will also continue to receive items from other libraries in the Chinook Arch system.

Clement said she doesn’t see the need for rural libraries to close.

“Our numbers are good all around, but we never get a lot of people at one time,” she said.

But at least the library can continue to get books out to patrons, said Clement.
